FANTASY FORECAST 2018/19: FPL Gameweek 6

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League, The Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Special Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 6 Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We ask the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The three members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead.

For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties that will feature throughout the season.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Chelsea (A) vs. West Ham

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

Roberto ‘one-eyed’ Firmino: the swashbuckling Brazilian has been electric from Liverpool in the past few gameweeks, and despite having four returns from five weeks (2 goals, 2 assists) the Reds striker is still not considered a legitimate option. Well, after scoring against PSG in the Champions League I am happy to say that Firmino is finally getting some of the credit that he deserves.

Sergio Aguero: He’s OK, no Firmino though.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Fulham and Watford attackers. Lots of defenders are on the table this week, so seeing Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, and United in action give you lots of options.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: After defeating PSG in the Champions League, making the French champions look ordinary on the big stage, it could be a whitewash for Liverpool's feeder club rivals at the weekend.

Crystal Palace: Newcastle are on their way down, Mamadou Sakho is still an absolute unit. I can’t see how any Rafa Benitez is going to get the Toon ticking to get past the imperious Frenchman.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Wolves: Two wins on the spin, but I can see them struggling at Old Trafford.

Spurs: I have put them down or a win, but with three 2-1 losses on the spin it wouldn’t surprise me if the dice would roll on this score for the fourth straight week.

GW Differential Picks:

This week in the differentials include Alexandre Lacazette, James Milner, James Maddison, and even my top pick of the week… André Schürrle.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Roberto Firmino – The Brazilian is the man of the hour, so I won’t look any further.

(VC): Sergio Aguero – Cardiff away from home is the easiest away game for any club, so expect Man City of all teams to score lots of goals.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Champions League rotation incoming.

Best GW Attacking Options: Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential: Bournemouth, Leicester, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City.

GW Differential Picks:

Josh King: 2 big points hauls from 5 Gameweek's. On penalties for a side that has a lot of attacking potential. We could see him get into doubke figures again soon.

FPL Captaincy Picks: (C) Sergio Aguero: After a rest on the bench for the opening Champions league fixture we should see the Argentine return to the first XI. Cardiff are a side that won’t sit back and defend, a fact that Chelsea exploited last weekend.

(VC) Eden Hazard: Player of the year 2019. 40 goals in one season. Etc etc

Liverpool (H) vs. Southampton

Chelsea (A) vs. West Ham

Who are your essential Gameweek player picks?:

James Maddison (LEI): Still in the reals of being a differential, James Maddison is central to everything positive about Leicester and he should see some steady returns in the coming weeks and months.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: One free-kick has to go in soon, surely?

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Any combination of City defenders should do the business, as well as Watford/Fulham assets, and Wilf Zaha against Newcastle. Value might be found in picking up Leicester defenders this week.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: 6 wins in a row is surely on the cards.

Chelsea: 6 wins in a row is surely on the cards.

Arsenal: If memory serves me correctly, Arsenal typically dispatch Everton wit ease at The Emirates. Could be a big Sunday for a fresh Lacazette who is now rightfully 'the man' at Arsenal.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Man United: Just got a feeling that Wolves might pose a few threats that will limit FPL potential this weekend for United's players (Shaw and Lukaku primarily).

Spurs: Brighton are half-decent opposition that could cause a bang average Spurs side the same troubles that Watford did a few weeks ago.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Sergio Aguero – An ankle injury to Aguero was just precaution and with Cardiff at the weekend, we're looking at a potentially massive score for City. I'm putting the armband on The Kun for gunt instinct alone, with the 'just in case' phrase phrase used a lot in my internal logic.

(VC): Mohamed Salah – If it's not Aguero, it's Salah.
