GRAPHICS: FPL Player Prices ahead of the 2018/19 Season

The FPL preemptively opened its doors for the 2018/19 season on Thursday 5th July 2018, just shy of 5 weeks before the start of the new Premier League season. Pre-season for FPL essentially comes down to finding the best way to manage your player budget for the new season. We chart player prices this season, looking for value and those who might be overpriced. All aboard.

Premier League 2018/19: Gameweek 1

All Premier League clubs voted on shutting the transfer window early this season instead of the usual deadline at the end of August. This season the transfer window opened on Thursday 17th May 2018, and will close before the opening day of the season on Thursday 9th August 2018.

The Premier League will then kick off on Friday 10th August, with Man United hosting Leicester City at Old Trafford.

FPL Player Prices: 2017/18 Season

Harry Kane finished the season as the most expensive player in the game, priced at £13.1 million. Only players from the 'Top 6' featured, which isn't surprising given their inflated importance both in the FPL and on the field.

Below, we've mapped the changes in price between the end of last season, and the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign.

1) Harry Kane (TOT): £13.1m > £12.5m (-0.6m)

2) Sergio Aguero (MCI): £11.5m > £11.0m (-0.5m)

3) Romelu Lukaku (MUN): £11.5m > £11.0m (-0.5m)

4) Alexis Sanchez (MUN): £11.4m > £10.5m (-0.9m)

5) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ARS): £10.8m > £11.0m (+0.2m)

6) Mohamed Salah (LIV): £10.6m > £13.0m (+2.4m)

7) Eden Hazard (CHE): £10.5m > £10.5m (+0.0m)

8) Alvaro Morata (CHE): £10.4m > £9.0m (-1.4m)

9) Gabriel Jesus (MCI): £10.4m > £10.5m (+0.1m)

10) Alexandre Lacazette (ARS): £10.3m > £9.5m (-0.8m)

Besides a step rise for Mohamed Salah, who began last season priced at £9.0 million for Liverpool (meaning a £4.0m rise in the space of one season), all of the heavy hitters on the rich list didn't gain too much or lose too much price, levelling out their parity for the new season.

This of course reflects the price rises and falls from last season, with Kane, Aguero, Hazard, Lukaku, and Jesus, all closer to their final price last season.

The big drops in price are for rotation-prone Forward's in Lacazette and Morata, whilst a poor season from Alexis Sanchez sees his value plummet ahead of a first full season with Man United.

FPL Player Prices: 2018/19 Season

With the season kicking off on August 10th, we've compiled the important player prices, with some relevant graphics, that should help breakdown and make sense of the prices for the new season.

At the end of the article, we've got a graphic with some of the player options who might come into relevant this season due to incoming and outgoing players and Manager's.
