MLS Fantasy 2018: Gameweek 16 - Player Picks
Welcome to a fourth article for The Hype Train by @Sanchez_FPL, looking back at players who have performed in his team from last week, as well as looking forward to this weekend's round of fixtures. In this article we will be breaking down his team from Gameweek 15 and then going over why he is picking a certain team for the upcoming round of fixtures for Gameweek 16. All aboard.
MLS Fantasy: Gameweek Deadline
For the 2018 MLS Fantasy season there is a 'Rolling Lockout', which means you can make substitutions and transfers until the second a player's game kicks off, which means you can chop and change your lineup as any Gameweek progresses.
You can view the schedule and a real time Gameweek deadline countdown clock (in the London GMT timezone) on our dedicated MLS Fantasy page.
Changes were needed after Gameweek 15:
Slight tweaks were needed this weekend, especially as it is all taking place on a Thursday, the same day as the World Cup, everyone will be watching the World Cup, we get it.
There were some great points on the week with Houston Dynamo, New York City and Columbus Crew bringing home the gold for my Fantasy team this week, namely Zardes for Columbus (captain), Martinez for Houston and Moralez for New York The trio earned 16, 12 and 10 points respectively.
I was overly impressed with my teams performance last week, seeing as I made the choice for New York, Columbus and Houston Dynamo coverage. Following on from last week, scoring 125 points, I bagged 89 points this week, which keeps me in line with some of the top few hundred players in terms of performance.
The only bad part of this was DaMarcus Beasley sitting as my second substitution scoring 12 points on my bench, damn you DaMarcus! Plus Alessandrini, Cano and Figueroa didn't play, which could've been better, but alas we move on.
My week rank in the Hype Train MLS League for the week was 33 and my overall rank is 75th.
Looking ahead to Gameweek 16:
Major wholesale changes were made for this one week. With the two-week break upcoming, it is a chance for franchises who need to catch up a chance to do so. My Columbus Crew players can stay where they are, but other than that everyone else left my squad.
Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls, Atlanta United and Colorado Rapids players have made their way into my team. I feel like these players, not Orlando City SC, will do it for me this week. Players like Sebastian Giovinco and Bradley Wright Phillips need to step up this week and help me get over the line.
Hopes for MLS Fantasy Gameweek 16:
I hope that I can keep this good thing going, ok, I'm not expecting a massive points haul. Well as big as it was this past week. I want to get to about 65+ points, if I can get to 90+, it will be a great week.
Conclusion:
This "weekend" it is a chance for players to showcase why the should be in my team going forward. The players that I am looking at this week are Sebastian Giovinco, Bradley Wright Phillips and Gyasi Zardes amongst others.
Come now guys, let's get this week by the scruff of the neck and let's kick ass.
