FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 37

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Lukasz Fabianski (GK), Chris Smalling (DEF), Raheem Sterling (MID), Jesus (FW)

OUT: Nick Pope (GK) Andrew Robertson (DEF), Mohamad Salah (MID), Firmino (FW)

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Any Double Gameweek players that you can scramble to get your hands on.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: Two easy games versus Brighton and Huddersfield, both at the Etihad.

Spurs: Two ‘easy’ games versus West Brom and Newcastle.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Huddersfield: Two horrible games in the double-gameweek.

Newcastle: Two horrible games in the Double Gameweek, and now that the Toon have secured safety till next year, they might take their foot off the gas.

GW Differential Picks:

I don’t even know where to start with the differentials this week. There is Eden Hazard of Chelsea who has two games, you also have Dusan Tadic if you wanted a more budget option. Ederson is my differential choice in goal, and Wilfried Zaha at Stoke.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Harry Kane – Two games that Kane can score in, usually my deputy to Salah.

(VC) Gabriel Jesus – Two games that Jesus can score in, normally my deputy to Kane.

Other Gameweek Comments:

The final Double Gameweek of the year is upon us, and I am sure that the remainder of the chips are going to be used in the final two weeks of the season. I am preferring the bench-boost because of Swansea’s fixtures are good differentials to bank on, and most teams have favourable match-ups that are playing twice. Good luck in how you use your chips, even if this season has been a frustrating nightmare with only two form players throughout the entire season (Salah and Sterling).

Man City (H) vs Huddersfield & (H) vs Brighton

Spurs (A) vs West Brom & (H) vs Newcastle

Arsenal (H) vs Burnley & (A) vs Leicester

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

City (H) vs Huddersfield & (H) vs Brighton

Spurs (A) vs West Brom & (H) vs Newcastle

Man Utd (A) vs Brighton & (A) West Ham

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jordan Ayew, Mawson and Swansea defenders, Man City players,

OUT: I'd think about getting rid of Newcastle players. Kenedy doesn't feature on the final day of the season and he's a popular 5th midfielder pick.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Swansea and Newcastle defenders, and maybe for a single Gameweek team, don't overlook Crystal Palace.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Man City: If Pep doesn't mess around too much with the team, we're in for a good Gameweek in general.

Liverpool: Write Mo Salah off at your peril.

Man United: Defensively speaking, United could be in for a good Gameweek.

Crystal Palace: The best single Gameweek team to bank on this weekend. They'll probably relegate Stoke, which I don't really mind (let's face it, Stoke have been terrible this season).

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Chelsea - Unreliable

West Ham - Unreliable x 2

Southampton - Unreliable x 3

Leicester - Unreliable x 4

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Raheem Sterling - He's in form and if he starts against Huddersfield and Brighton, we're talking about a potentially massive haul.

(VC): Harry Kane - He'll play both games, and can never rule him out, even if he isn't look overtly dangerous right now.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Swansea players are a the top of my transfer list this week, and in general as the season comes to a close, I'm happy that it will end. It's been a long and frustrating path for most FPL players this season.

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jesus, Sterling, Vertonghen, Jordan Ayew, Ramsey (if Arsenal go out the Europa League)

OUT: Lukaku, Mahrez, Willian, Bailly

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Key men from sides who have something to play for, i.e. Arnautovic, Tadic, Zaha & J Ayew

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Swansea & Southampton due to them scrapping for their lives, with favourable fixtures in the double Gameweek. Then the obvious ones like City & Spurs.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Single Gameweek Teams & expect rotation for United, Chelsea & Liverpool ahead of their respective cup finals.

GW Differential Picks:

Laporte/Danilo (MCI); Plum fixtures and both look likely to start two out of the last three games

Tadic (SOU); Three goals in his last three matches, as well as nine chances created in his last four, with Southampton fighting for their lives he could be a good punt.

Ramsey (ARS); Goal machine from centre-mid when he plays regularly, should start both games if Arsenal go out of the Europa League.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

City look likely to score bucket loads with two easy home fixtures, Sterling is probably the better choice if he was nailed on but we believe Jesus is more likely to start both games so have cautiously opted for him.

(C): Jesus

(VC): Sterling

Other Gameweek Comments:

Towards the end of the season there tends to be a lot of goals, so clean sheets may be hard to come by. Be wary of rotation and teams who might be on the beach already (Leicester!).
