FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 35

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Fixture Prediction: Gameweek 35

West Brom 0-2 Liverpool

Watford 1-1 Crystal Palace

Arsenal 3-1 West Ham

Stoke 1-2 Burnley

Man City 3-0 Swansea

Everton 1-1 Newcastle

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 35

Best GW Attacking Options:

Liverpool (A) vs. West Brom

Watford (H) vs. Crystal Palace

Arsenal (H) vs. West Ham

Burnley (A) vs. Stoke City

Man City (H) vs. Swansea

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man City (H) vs. Swansea

Liverpool (A) vs. West Brom

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Gabriel Jesus, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Roberto Pereyra, Loris Karius

OUT: Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane, Riyad Mahrez, David de Gea

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Stacking up on players who are playing is the way to this week, so Burnley players will be popular, as will Watford and Crystal Palace.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: Obviously I am going to be looking out for the Reds this week, they are on a great run and with recent results, and if they beat West Brom, it is grim reading for Chelsea. I expect a strong line-up to keep the momentum heading into the Champions League clash on Tuesday against Roma.

Man City: With nothing else to play for this season, the Citizens can put all their eggs in the Premier League basket. They have a favourable home fixture against Swansea which shouldn’t cause them too much trouble.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Crystal Palace: I am not keen for this fixture, mostly because it can go either way. Watford have been solid at home, and Palace have fluttered away from home. I couldn’t predict where this fixture is going. If you are tempted by Wilfried Zaha do it with a pinch of salt.

Everton: Rafa has got the Toon marching to the beat of his drum. The Spaniard has passed the forty-point mark after a string of positive results, which can’t be said about Everton.

GW Differential Picks:

Virgil van Dijk is doing the business for Liverpool’s defence.

Wilfried Zaha or Roberto Pereyra are great picks from that fixture.

Gabriel Jesus is also making a comeback.

Alexandre Lacazette might also be value for money.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Mohamad Salah – Always play and captain the King of Egypt.

(VC): Gabriel Jesus – The in-form Brazilian is set to take the reigns until the end of the season with Aguero’s recent injury.

Other Gameweek Comments:

All those players with three Spurs and Man United midfielders will most likely be going to debate playing their wildcard. The shame about a Double Gameweek is that in this case it is followed by a reduced Gameweek.

About FPL Academica:

I am a co-founder of FPL Academica, a relatively new blog founded by a group of teachers and students (or Academics) in February where we post weekly differential picks, Gameweek previews, and on occasion produced long form strategy articles in which we share our School of Thought.

You can follow us on Twitter (@FPLAcademica) where we announce our blog posts and the team will be happy to answer any FPL questions you have as and when. Feel free to either DM us or email us (fplacademica@gmail.com) if you would like to contribute to our blog, be it as a guest feature, a regular feature writer, providing graphics or even videos.
