FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 26

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Fixture Prediction: Gameweek 26

Burnley 0-3 Man City

Bournemouth 2-1 Stoke

Brighton 1-0 West Ham

Leicester 2-1 Swansea

Man United 3-0 Huddersfield

West Brom 1-0 Southampton

Arsenal 1-1 Everton

Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

Liverpool 2-0 Spurs

Watford 0-1 Chelsea

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 26

Best GW Attacking Options:

Man City (H) vs. Burnley

Bournemouth (H) vs. Stoke

Leicester (H) vs. Swansea

Man United (H) vs. Huddersfield

West Brom (H) vs. Southampton

Crystal Palace (H) vs. Newcastle

Liverpool (H) vs. Spurs

Chelsea (A) vs. Watford

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man City (A) vs. Burnley

Brighton (H) vs. West Ham

Man United (H) vs. Huddersfield

West Brom (H) vs. Southampton

Liverpool (H) vs. Spurs

Chelsea (A) vs. Watford

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Mathew Ryan (GK), Aymeric Laporte (DEF), Theo Walcott (MID), Jordan Ayew (FW)

OUT: Nick Pope (GK), John Stones (DEF), Riyad Mahrez (MID, Cenk Tosun (FW)

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

West Brom defenders, Southampton have been poor.

Laporte of Man City can be picked up if you’re quick enough.

Seamus Coleman might also be worth a nab.

New transfers might be an exciting prospect.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Brighton: The Seagulls demolished West Ham last time out, an emphatic 3-0 win at the London Stadium. Armed with two new forwards there could be another big opportunity for the South Coast club to escape the relegation zone for another week.

Man United: Options at both ends of the pitch, an appropriate time to banish some bad feelings from their visit to Wembley.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Burnley: Currently still amid a poor run of form, the Clarets were lucky to pick up a point at Newcastle. Up next for Sean Dyche’s outfit is Man City at home, an anyone with sense will be keen to avoid that fixture.

Spurs: Travelling to Anfield, the North London club have a terrible record versus Liverpool isn’t that good. Seven games, and no wins, two draws, and five losses.

GW Differential Picks:

I write the captaincy article, head on over to find out the ten names who I have selected. The ten names include Theo Walcott who I think will have a productive Gameweek at his return to the Emirates.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Sergio Aguero – Captain Obvious only had one name in the sorting hat. Lots of people could claim the paper would be endless and have a series of O’s at the end of the first part of his name.

(VC): Mohamad Salah – When in doubt, captain the King of Egypt. Scored last time versus Spurs, and with Liverpool’s record at Anfield over Spurs it is an overlooked captaincy option.

Other Gameweek Comments:

Cometh the rotation season. Players will be dropped, players will be rested, and Riyad Mahrez is still on the back of all the milk cartons sent to Premier League clubs.

Man United (H) vs. Huddersfield

Crystal Palace (H) vs. Newcastle

Spurs and Liverpool

Bournemouth (H) vs. Stoke

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man United (H) vs. Huddersfield

Crystal Palace (H) vs. Newcastle

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Shaqiri, Callum Wilson,

OUT: Lingard, Jonjoe Kenny

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Bournemouth defenders.

Swansea defenders like Mawson are overlooked.

Emre Can still might be floating about.

Jordan Ayew and his brother Andre might be shrewd picks.

The new additions like Laporte and Aubamayeng are already available.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Crystal Palace: Newcastle look like they can't score in a brothel at the moment.

Bournemouth: The Cherries are on fine form and play a Stoke side that hasn't lost in 2 matches at home.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Arsenal: Not that I don't think they'll win, but rather no one can be sure of the impact that Myki and Auba will have on the team right now.

Spurs: Come on, they're going to Anfield.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C) Sergio Aguero - Has form and fixtures on his side. The easy option this week, but there are no good alternatives.

(VC): Mohamed Salah - Playing at home, of course Salah gets the nod as the vice as a minimum.

Other Gameweek Comments:

There's probably a lot of you out there with a lot of Spurs and Liverpool assets (like me). I have all but resigned myself to playing all 6 options I have and jut hoping that a captaincy pick goes in my favour to help that all of my team are negating each other.

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 26

Best GW Attacking Options:

Man United v HUD (H); Pogba, Sanchez

Bournemouth v STO (H); Wilson, Ibe

Liverpool v TOT (H); Salah, Mane, Firmino

Man City v bur (a); Agüero, Sterling, KDB, B.Silva (differential)

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Man United v HUD (H)

West Brom v SOU (H)

Crystal Palace v NEW (H)

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN:

For those who are riding high (top 300k); Pogba, Agüero, Phil Jones

For those who are chasing; Aubameyang, Walcott, Callum Wilson, Bernardo Silva, Smalling

OUT:

Mahrez - I expect the Algerian to be watching from the sidelines for the next few GWs after his deadline day antics

Richarlison (if anyone still has him!) - Has seriously gone of the boil recently and Watford haven’t continued the good form we saw at the start of the season

Jonjoe Kenny - Has lost his place to the returning Seamus Coleman

Huddersfield assets - Two words: get rid.

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Walcott v ars (a) (4.0% TSB): After a perfect start to his Everton career with an assist and 2 goals in his first 2 games, Walcott visits his old stomping ground, where he will be hungry to impress. He will also be trying to work his way into the England World Cup squad between now and the end of the season.

Smalling v HUD (H) (2.4% TSB): Has started all of United’s last 3 league games and looks certain to keep a clean sheet as United host a depleted-looking Huddersfield. With 2.4% TSB he is a great differential for anyone, like myself, who is still very low in the FPL rankings.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Arsenal v EVE (H): Arsenal will be looking to bounce back after a shock defeat away at Swansea, and team morale will no doubt be boosted by the deadline day signing of Aubameyang/Auboomerang/Aubergine (LOL). I can see him hitting the ground running with a goal in a home Premier League debut against Everton, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 5.

Man United v HUD (H): Mourinho’s side are the obvious choice to watch out for in GW26, as they host Huddersfield, who are without a win in 7, and have the worst form in the league. United will be looking for a response after a lacklustre performance in the 2-0 defeat to Spurs at Wembley. I fancy the Reds to bag a clean sheet, and expect attacking returns from Pogba, Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, for the first time in the league in a United shirt.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Huddersfield v mun (a): As previously stated, Wagner’s men have the worst form in the league, having lost their last 4, and are odds on favourites to be relegated. Definitely the team to avoid with away trips to Man United and Spurs in their next 4.

Watford v CHE (H): The Hornets have looked a completely different side ever since Everton came sniffing around former gaffer, Marco Silva. In GW26 they host a Chelsea side who need a win after a shocking display at home to Bournemouth.

GW Differential Picks:

- Chris Smalling (2.4% TSB); as stated above

- Aubameyang (1.3% TSB); will want to hit the ground running for his new club

- Daniel Sturridge (0.9% TSB); after a sub appearance against Man City, the loanee may be given his first start for the Baggies in a great fixture at home to Southampton

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Agüero

(VC): Salah, Callum Wilson

Other Gameweek Comments:

When picking your team, be aware of the teams expected to have blanks in GW31 and GW35. Liverpool, Watford, Stoke and Everton are only teams so far to have confirmed fixtures in GW31. Follow @BenCrellin on Twitter for updates.
