FANTASY FORECAST 2017/18: FPL Gameweek 24

Ahead of each Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League the Hype Train invites a special guest onto its Fantasy Forecast, where the three members of the Hype Team and its Guests will duel for FPL supremacy in predicting Premier League scores, as well as going head to head in picking a Scout Picks squad for the relevant Gameweek. In addition, we give our insight into who are the players to watch and those to drop, both for traditional FPL leagues and the Draft mode, as well as providing insight into captaincy picks, differentials for the week, and more. Welcome to the Forecast. All aboard.

Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline

For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.

How does our Forecasting work?

We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of respecting the rules of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interested parties.

  • Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast. A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.

  • FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, players to consider for the Draft game, the wildcard differential players, as well as general analysis and comments.

  • Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, without any budget, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)

  • Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).

Fixture Prediction: 2017/18 Points Table

In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Fixture Prediction: Gameweek 24

Brighton 0-2 Chelsea

Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Burnley 0-2 Man United

Everton 1-0 West Brom

Leicester 2-1 Watford

Stoke 1-1 Huddersfield

West Ham 1-1 Bournemouth

Man City 4-0 Newcastle

Southampton 0-2 Spurs

Swansea 0-4 Liverpool

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 24

Best GW Attacking Options:

Chelsea (A) vs. Brighton

Man United (A) vs. Burnley

Leicester (H) vs. Watford

Man City (H) vs. Newcastle

Spurs (A) vs. Southampton

Liverpool (A) vs. Swansea

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Chelsea (A) vs. Brighton

Man United (A) vs. Burnley

Man City (H) vs. Newcastle

Spurs (A) vs. Southampton

Liverpool (A) vs. Swansea

Everton (H) vs. West Brom

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Jordan Pickford (GK) Luke Shaw (DEF), Sadio Mane (MID), Roberto Firmino (FW)

OUT: Nick Pope (GK), Kieran Trippier (DEF), Eden Hazard (MID), Alvaro Morata (FW)

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain for Liverpool, Karius too.

Cenk Tosun might start his career at Goodison with a goal.

Lots of goals in this gameweek, but also clean sheets. Luke Shaw will probably be available.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Liverpool: The Reds are the most in-form team in the Premier League, and Swansea are struggling even with their new manager. Salah, Mane, and Firmino are all in-form and you would be stupid to doubt them going into GW24.

Man City: Favourable fixture versus Newcastle, there will be goals.

Everton: I can’t believe I am saying this, but Big Sam and Alan Pardew might be able to compete in a terrible gameweek fixture, but I think that the creativity of Gylfi Sigurdsson and new acquisition Cenk Tosun will be enough to beat the Baggies.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Watford: Despite the most ridiculous goal of the season to level against Southampton, the Hornets must go the Foxes den which isn’t a cheerful visit for Watford, especially with Riyad Mahrez always on-target against the Hertfordshire club.

Burnley: Having fallen off the rails the Clarets host Man United, not a fixture anyone expects them to get anything out of.

GW Differential Picks:

Danilo of Man City is a huge option for this week with Delph’s injury.

Andrew Robertson has another opportunity to continue impressing at left-back for Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk might also be able to get his first Premier League start.

Wilfried Zaha might be able to tear Arsenal apart like he did last time.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Mohamad Salah – The King of Egypt returned from injury right where he left off with a convincing display against Manchester City, helping the Reds end the unbeaten run of Man City. The Reds are the best attacking unit going into GW24, and the last time round Liverpool dominated the Swans.

(VC): Raheem Sterling – Man City will be keen to reset after their first loss of the season against Liverpool, and there is no better fixture than against Newcastle to bounce back quickly. Sterling scored the winner against the Toon last time, so it should be another interesting fixture, with lots of goals.

Other Gameweek Comments:

There should be plenty of normality this week with little rotation, and that makes me very, very happy. There probably won’t be that much team sheet changes from the top six teams, so expect Liverpool and Man City (the weeks top teams) to be stable elements.

I am backing the ‘Big Five’ to have big weeks with both attacking and defensive potential, and if you are wondering the team to drop out the ‘Big Six’, yes…it’s Arsenal.

FPL Captaincy Picks: (C): Harry Kane: sticking with Kane despite the temptation to captain Salah or Aguero. Southampton are not the side they used to be, especially when looking at their defensive record.

(VC): Mo Salah: Just about beats Aguero to the VC spot. Everything Liverpool have done this year goes through him. Aguero has been scoring, but he’s not their main man anymore.

Man United (A) vs. Burnley

Man City (H) vs. Newcastle

Spurs (A) vs. Southampton

Liverpool (A) vs. Swansea

Everton (H) vs. West Brom

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: I've been itching to get Calum Wilson in, but won't drop points to do it.

OUT: Chelsea players are on the out, naturally. Alonso and Azpi are the only safe bets

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

The Ox, Tosun, Ibe, Fraser, and Callum Wilson, could all be big differentials picks for Draft players this week. I've managed no nag Ibe in my personal league as a 5th member.

Who are the teams to look out for?:

Bournemouth: Callum Wilson is back in form to haunt The Hammers again. Plese let it happen. I am quite vocal about my criticisms of West Ham and nothing well help sooth my ego than a humbling home loss to Bournemouth.

Brighton: Chelsea are the worst team in the Premier League right now for producing terrible matches. The Blues are absolutely terrible to watch on TV and are making teams like Norwich look worthy of a Premier League place at their expense. This should play well into Brighton's hands, who played very well at The Bridge, even in defeat.

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Watford: Despite the most ridiculous goal of the season to level against Southampton, the Hornets must go the Foxes den which isn’t a cheerful visit for Watford, especially with Riyad Mahrez always on-target against the Hertfordshire club.

Chelsea: Time to hit the snooze button on your alarms, Chelsea are in the early fixture, so you're probably better off having a few extra hours of sleep. You'll likely miss nothing of note.

GW Differential Picks:

Sam's pick of Danilo higher up is a group shout for a differential pick this week. I have made the move in my personal team and I can't wait to see Oleksandr Zinchenko at the left-back slot in a surprise twist.

FPL Captaincy Picks:

(C): Mohamad Salah – Swansea bad. Liverpool good.

(VC): Raheem Sterling – Newcastle easy prey. Man City are the shark team sniffing blood in calm waters.

Other Gameweek Comments:

There is a lot of potential from the top teams this week, and if they're all on form FPL scores will be very good.

No better time than my beloved Newcastle doubling down on City's losses this season, right?

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 24

Best GW Attacking Options:

Salah, Kane, Lukaku, Mahrez, Vardy, Sterling, Firmino

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:

Lloris, De Gea, Masuaku might be useful punt, anyone from Chelsea!

Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:

IN: Son, Arnautovic – both good run of form with goals assists and some decent fixtures, consider Mahrez/Vardy too; Sterling - next opponents are Newcastle, West Ham and Burnley - nothing more to say!

OUT: Lingard – could be the end of his run esp if Sanchez arrives he will be in the rotation mix. Surprising choice for out soon would be Aguero as Jesus comes back and more focus on CL?

Who are the players that might make the difference this Gameweek in the Draft?:

Walcott to make an amazing debut vs West Brom? Van Dijk low ownership punt for clean sheet and goal vs Swansea?

Who are the teams to look out for?:

West Ham, Leicester, never know what Newcastle might do to a downbeat City?

Who are the teams to avoid?:

Swansea, Southampton

GW Differential Picks:

Jordan Ayew from Swansea can see him nabbing a brace? Masuaku for clean sheet and assist potential from West Ham.

Walcott goal on his Everton debut?

Crouch only £4.9mill - Stoke win vs Huddersfield win Crouch goals/assist?

FPL Captaincy Picks:
