Picking a Captain to double down on in the Fantasy Premier League is the most important question asked ahead of each of the 38 Gameweek's in the Premier League season. There's a lot of self-help out there for FPL enthusiasts, with our Hype Team providing three major considerations for the armband for each and every Gameweek. Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek Deadline
For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page

Another round of games, another essential captaincy poll, and an unexpected winner.
If you’re a regular reader of these captaincy articles, you’ll notice that there has been a rapid decline in the care and thought when trying to hype up captaincy picks, and it is partly because we’re receptive to what is put forward in front of us, and as the season grinds on there is just little encouragement that captaincy picks will matter. Instead of getting pumped about your choices as a Fantasy player, the common go to phrase, less than half way through the season, has been ‘here we go again’, whilst the voice in the back of your head is doubting every selection.
Ahead of Gameweek 19, Raheem Sterling’s selection as the essential captain has come out of nowhere, these picks have been dominated by high-priced forwards until now, but with the shifting power towards midfielders becoming a reality, the captaincy picks have shifted with it. The below tweet summarises the agony that we are having with pricey Forward picks – they’re just not getting the job done.
For our own sake of sanity we're not going to do any hyping for our first two picks, that being Raheem Sterling and Mohamed Salah. We'll just leave their stats below in some nice info-graphics, and just call it a week. The pair provide the best chance of success for Fantasy players, and it is obvious why.
They're goal-scoring midfielders, and that's enough to have our backing for Gameweek 19.
CAPTAINCY HYPE: THE WILDCARD PICK
Our Wildcard selection is one of the ten differential picks that is featured in our Weekly Wildcards article. This captaincy selection has a very small percentage of owners in the FPL, and is our left field option.
Gameweek 19: Wildcard
Player: Charlie Austin (SOU)
Position: Forward
Player Price: £6.2 million
Player Selection %: 5.5%
Fantasy managers must remember the good old days when Charlie Austin was a cheap forward option scoring goals for QPR, and the optimism that everyone had when he went to Southampton was rife, and we are in a moment where it has been reignited. After being dropped against Chelsea it was a mistake, the Saints are statistically better at scoring with the Englishmen in his team. Southampton have a cosy home fixture against a team that struggle away from home, and it is an understated selection for Austin in your team but one that could outshine ahead of other forwards in tougher fixtures.
The case for Charlie Austin has many interesting stats, the Englishman is worth considering this week as an outsider for the captain’s armband.
Key Stats (Charlie Austin):
Five goals from four starts. Four goals from starting, one substitute appearance goal in GW2 against West Ham.
Four goals whilst playing at home.
One goal whilst playing away from home.
Since Austin returned to the Saints starting eleven they picked up a habit of scoring in every game that he has started. The game against Chelsea where Austin didn’t start resulted in the Saints not scoring a goal for the first time in five games.
Austin is the main penalty taker at Southampton.
Huddersfield only have two clean sheets away from this season, these occurred earlier in the season during GW1 (CRY) and GW6 (BUR).
Huddersfield have scored in only two of their away games so far, this season, during GW1 (CRY), and most recently in GW18 (WAT). The Terriers are much more comfortable at home.
Resting on 45pts heading into the weekend, and @HypeTrainSam can’t look past including Charlie Austin.
