FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek's 16 & 17
Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For the next two weeks we welcome @fantasypest as our guest for Gameweek's 16 and 17. All aboard.
Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 16 & 17 Deadlines
For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.
All FPL transfer deadlines this season are set to one hour before the set kick-off time for the first game of the Gameweek. Gameweek 16 is the first round of games to take place in midweek.
The transfer deadline for GW16 is Tuesday 13th December at 18:45pm.
The transfer deadline for GW17 is Saturday 17th December at 11:30am.
How does our Forecasting work?
We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.
Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.
FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.
Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)
Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).
Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table
In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

FPL Forecasting: Gameweek 16 and Gameweek 17
Best GW Attacking Options:
Chelsea (a) vs Sunderland and Crystal Palace
Arsenal (a) vs Everton and Man City
Spurs (H) vs Hull and Burnley
West Ham (H) vs Burnley and Hull
Liverpool (a) vs Boro and Everton
Swansea (a) vs West Brom and Boro
Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:
Chelsea (a) vs Sunderland and Crystal Palace
Spurs (H) vs Hull and Burnley
Manchester United (a) vs Crystal Palace & West Brom
Arsenal (a) vs Everton & Man City
Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:
IN: Toby Alderwiereld, Phil Jones, Dimitri Payet, Michail Antonio, Glen Johnson, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez, Wilfried Zaha, Marcos Alonso, Divock Origi, Boufal.
OUT: Loris Karius, Ben Foster, Ashley Williams, Romelu Lukaku, Juan Mata, Ben Gibson, Darren Fletcher, and anyone stupid enough to still have Aguero in their team.
Who are the teams to look out for?:
Five teams who I think you will need to look out for this set of fixtures:
Spurs: Hull at home should be an open and shut case, points on both ends of the pitch.
Chelsea: Winning ten games in a row wouldn’t surprise me, nor eleven.
Liverpool: Boro could be without key men and Liverpool could return to form against a low scoring squad, relieving the pressure on current scapegoat Loris Karius.
Arsenal: The Toffees have been poor this season. End of.
West Ham: Could they have finally found their feet again with a draw at Liverpool, after seeing that magical Payet free kick creep past Karius.
Who are the teams to avoid?:
Hull: Doomed, they are officially Sunderland 2.0
Burnley: Struggling away from home, not much hope.
Sunderland: Two tricky fixtures, may be back on the chasing foot of a relegation battle.
Swansea: Boro and West Brom are defensive dynamo’s, a hard wall to breach.
Manchester City: Just struggling in all areas of defence.
GW Differential Picks:
Marcos Alonso: The Spaniard has made a good habit of securing points in pretty much every single match he has played for Chelsea this season, bar the blip against Spurs. At this point it is harder for Alonso to not get points, so makes sense to continue backing the Chelsea defence.
Divock Origi: Four goals in his last four, unreal form. Expecting more when they travel to Boro midweek.
FPL Captaincy Picks (16 & 17):
(C) Harry Kane: Hull and Burnley at home is just too irresistible to turn up, and I expect everyone in these predictions to think exactly the same thing.
(VC) Diego Costa: The Blues striker is on fire and so far, my player of the season, and after sending McAuley back to the 1990’s at the weekend you can only expect that he will continue the incredible run he is on.
Other Gameweek Comments:
Fear the rotation, it is real around this time of year, so don’t be surprised to see some familiar faces sitting on the bench or left at home this weekend. All the Aguero teams with a weak bench might struggle the next two weeks if players are jumping between the bench and starting. Also, all three of the teams in the top four are away from home which could cause some difficulty.

IN: Spurs and Chelsea players, Dimitri Payet/Michail Antonio, Stoke Defenders
OUT: Man City Defenders, Southampton Attackers, All Leicester players (don’t perform away from home)
Who are the teams to look out for?:
Spurs and Chelsea should have no trouble racking up goals and points in their respective fixtures. Beyond these obvious picks there are some potential differential picks.
West Ham: West Ham have not been short of goals this year. Clean sheets however have been a different story. Fortunately for West Ham they have two fixtures against teams who have been abysmal on all fronts away from home. Payet, Antonio and Carroll are all worth a punt over this period.
Stoke: Stoke, as always, have been up and down with a lack of consistent performances. If they play well they could be looking at six points and a pair of clean sheets. Defensive picks are their best options, with Pieters and Grant the options.
Who are the teams to avoid?:
HULL, BURNLEY… and maybe Watford.
GW Differential Picks:
Lee Grant (STK): Potential for a pair of clean sheets with favourable Home fictures.
Andy Carroll (WHU): Back from injury and facing two of the worst Premier League sides.
FPL Captaincy Picks (16 & 17):
(C) Harry Kane: My choice for both GW fixtures. A blank at United was disappointing but some easy ties against poor defensive sides makes him a must have player.
(VC) Diego Costa: Another game, another goal. The top goal scorer heads to grounds where defences don’t exist. The consistency is the most impressive thing about the big man and will surely make him the front runner for the eventual player of the season.

Best GW Defensive / Clean Sheet Potential:
Chelsea (a) vs Sunderland and Crystal Palace
Spurs (H) vs Hull and Burnley
West Brom (H) vs Swansea and Man United
Arsenal (a) vs. Everton and Man City
Who would you Transfer In and Out for the Gameweek and beyond?:
IN: Virgil van Dijk, Phil Jones, Chelsea defenders, Rondon, Randolph, Payet, Walker/Alderweireld, and one of Alli, Son or Eriksen.
OUT: Man City players, Benteke (even though he's on form), Snodgrass, Capoue
Who are the teams to look out for?:
The Obvious: Chelsea, Spurs, and Liverpool, should all have really good Gameweek's on paper.
Arsenal: Two away days at Everton and City will test their credentials, but last season took the sword to both teams. Though I've not reflected this in my Scout Picks as much ass I'd like, I think Arsenal will win both games comfortably. City and Everton just aren't at that level which they'd like to compete against The Gunners.
Leicester: The Champs hit second gear against Man City and could build on that to claim at least their first away win of the season at Bournemouth or Stoke, even if form suggets it'll be two home wins.
Who are the teams to avoid?:
The Obvious: Hull and Burnley have 2 away days at West Ham and Spurs each. It's a no go for the 2 ties.
Bournemouth: The Cherries have a mean back four on its day, and that's what FPL players mostly use. Against Southampton and Leicester, I'm not very confident of any returns. Bournemouth an be very patchy.
Man City: I've no idea how they'll line up against Watford, which is a dangerous game for FPL players, even in victory. Kelechi owners (like myself) be warned.
Everton: Home games against Arsenal and Liverpool could sink their season. A massive task for Koeman, who needs to give Lukaku a lot more service than in recent weeks.
GW Differential Picks:
Darren Randolph (WHU): An underrated Keeper facing two of the easiest teams in the league away from home. West Ham could get a couple of decent wins.
Divock Origi (LIV): There are goals in Liverpool games, full stop. Origi's been on fine form also.
FPL Captaincy Picks (16 & 17):
(C) Harry Kane: If you're 4 of the 5 players who don't have Kane, this could be a bad midwek period for you. Kane's 4 goals at home from his last 2 home games, and is a must, even if it isn't as rosy as we may think.
(VC) Dimitri Payet: The Frenchman could have a couple of massive games, and his potential is the same as Spurs, playing both Burnley and Hull at home. There are points across the 4 fixtures for sure.
