FPL FORECAST 2016/17: Gameweek 8
Each and every week the three members of The Hype Team post their Premier League and FPL predictions in an attempt to enlighten players that might be stuck with their FPL choices and transfers. In addition, we’ll be taking on a guest for every Gameweek in the PL. On the weekly agenda are a general predictions category, a Gameweek Fantasy Premier League forecast, scout picks, and captaincy choices. For the opening weekend of the season, we welcome @FPLHints as our 8th guest. All aboard.
Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 8 Deadline
For the 2016/17 Premier League season, the FPL deadline will be one hour before the commencement of the week's first game. The Premier League website lists each FPL deadline, you can always ask on social media, and you can also view a real time countdown on our Weekly Hype page.
In a change from last season, the early Saturday kick off time has now been moved back to 12:30am, meaning the weekly FPL deadline will also be moving 15 minutes back.
The transfer deadline for GW8 is Saturday October 15th at 11:30am.
How does our Forecasting work?
We have taken to our Hype Team, and the FPL Community, to compete in a weekly head to head dual of wits. We are asking the questions that dominate each week in the Fantasy Premier League: who to pick, who to avoid, who to captain, and who may surprise. The 3 members of the Hype Team, and a Guest, will provide weekly insight for the Gameweek ahead. For the sake of the first edition of the Forecast, we have provided an example of what we're sending out to interest parties.
Premier League Fixture Prediction: As pundits, we are testing our football acumen with PL predictions (Mark Lawrenson style, only less biased, hopefully) and will be providing regular updated tables and stats in each edition of the FPL Forecast.A perfect score is worth 3 points whilst a correct result is worth 1 point.
FPL Gameweek Forecasting: Answering the regular questions that come up every single week in the Fantasy Premier League community that helps with identifying captaincy picks, transfers, attacking options, clean sheet potential, teams to look our for and avoid, the wildcard differential players, and general analysis and comments.
Scout Picks: Picking a squad of 15 for a single Gameweek, using the rules of the FPL - formations, captains and vice captains, and the player limits of 3 per club (chips will not be feature of these weekly picks)
Each team must pick a Captain, labelled as (c) and a Vice Captain listed as (vc).
Fixture Prediction: 2016/17 Points Table
In our predictions a perfect score is 3 points, and predicting the right outcome is worth 1 point (aka if a team wins but, you predict it, but don't get the perfect score). Below is the Gameweek and overall rundown of our Premier League predictions series for the season.

Who is the team to look out for?:
Liverpool: Goals, goals, goals.
Crystal Palace: Operation Pardew: Forty Points is under way, West Ham don’t stand a chance. Before Christmas they will have a party celebrating staying in the league.
Man City: Aguero?
Southampton: Potential at both ends.
Who is the team to avoid?:
Sunderland: Relegated, don’t forget. Although, I still expect Jermain Defoe to register yet another away goal.
Man United: An away trip to Liverpool on Monday night will be a huge test and with the way Liverpool are currently playing nobody wants to go to Anfield currently. Expect goals in this fixture, a worrying thing for Mourinho who has tripped up in the last two Premier League games.
Arsenal: It isn’t even odd anymore, but Swansea just has the Gunners numbers. The last two visits have seen the Swans walk away deserved winners from the Emirates. I remember the last two fixtures thinking ‘yeah, not again’ but I won’t be a fool this time around. I will keep an Arsenal midfielder in my own team but I am steering clear of this fixture altogether even if Arsenal have been on good form. Some things don’t change in the FPL, this fixture is a testament to that.
GW Differential Picks:
Troy Deeney: The wildcard king may not be a differential much longer, but a trip to Boro shouldn’t pose too many problems for Deeney who is on penalty duty for the Hornets.
Callum Wilson: A successor to the Deeney throne, Callum Wilson has come back into good form for Bournemouth who host a Hull who have stuttered in form since their strong start toe the season. Should he play ninety minutes there is a good chance he can continue the amazing stat that he scores every time he finished a game.
FPL Captaincy Pick:
Roberto Firmino: The Brazilian duo of Coutinho and Firmino shone brightly for Brazil during the international break and I expect the samba magic at Anfield to be the difference for the Reds in this fixture, there are goals in both of the midfielders but it is the maverick Firmino who works hard leading the team. Hard work should pay off against a Mourinho team who have barely run half the distance of the Liverpool team this year, so my nod this week goes to Roberto Firmino for his industry which will be pivotal against the fierce rivals from Manchester.
Coutinho (VC): I can’t have one without the other so I have opted to choose Coutinho as Firmino’s vice captain this week, there are undoubted points in the Liverpool midfield in four strong options, and the Brazilians have had recent good luck against the Red Devil’s. Coutinho is a magical player when he has the ball at his feet, and we are sure to be reminded of the goal he scored at Old Trafford in the Europa League plenty of times in the build up to the fixture. If you haven’t seen it, google it.
Other Gameweek Comments:
The international break is a huge waste of time for FPL managers, form can be broken up and players get injured or just forget how to do the simple things. Some things will remain however, and that is the ‘Holy Trinity’ of points so far in the Liverpool midfield, Spurs defence, and Arsenal midfield. Players should be wary of picking marque defenders in this gameweek with the exception of Spurs who have a good fixture; there are plenty of ’50-50’ games like Palace/West Ham, Boro/Watford, Bournemouth/Hull,

Who is the team to look out for?:
Arsenal and Spurs should expect easy wins with Clean sheets likely.
Southampton: Charlie Austin knows how to make a goal from nothing and has solidified his place in this improving side. Defensively one of the best sides so far for clean sheet value. A home tie against Burnley looks like an easy three points.
West Ham: A surprise pick this week, struggling West Ham are set to improve. Cresswell looks likely to return and Ayew/Carroll are reaching fitness again. Expect goals to be conceded, but against Palace they could easily score a few themselves. Payet and Antonio are the obvious picks here.
Who is the team to avoid?:
Man United: The high profile squad have finally come unstuck in recent weeks and are offering very little in entertainment and FPL points. The goals have dried up for Zlatan, while the goals at the other end keep coming. Rashfords value for money is tempting but everyone else is overpriced for now.
Sunderland: If you don’t know why you shouldn’t be reading this anyway.
GW Differential Picks:
Charlie Austin: As previously stated, he now looks a lock in this creative Southampton side. Tadic is also back to his assisting best and has combined well with Austin on several occasions already.
Willian: In form for his country and potentially playing in the hole behind Costa, nobody has been able to replace Kante yet for Leicester and Willian will be able to exploit that space.
FPL Captaincy Pick:
(C) Sergio Aguero: Facing a tough Everton side but is capable of breaking through even the best of defences. Back from an international injury scare that may still put people off.
(VC) Alexis Sanchez: Sanchez will be played as a striker again this week with Giroud unavailable. He’s in form and facing a poor Swansea backline.

Who is the team to look out for?:
Watford: The Hornets have taken a back seat over the international break in terms of press. They'll be looking to prove they can hit teams hard on the road, and have capable goal scorers in their side.
Swansea: New manager = wildcard team. The Swans love a visit to Arsenal. Gylfi Sigurdsson could continue his good form against the Gunners.
Who is the team to avoid?:
Everton: Koeman's got a fit squad, but away at City, I'm not fancying them and am even considering dropping Lukaku to the bench.
West Ham: Last season West Ham won this game 3-1, but this campaign they've been a shambles for the most part. Palace could destroy them.
GW Differential Picks:
Callum Wilson: Bournemouth against Hull is a very hard game to call, because I think Hull have something to offer in their next 5-7 games, but Callum's on form and has as many FPL points as Benteke.
Dusan Tadic: It's criminal that just 2.6% of the FPL own Tadic. He's on penalties, and is at the top of his game currently. Burnley could see a big return.
FPL Captaincy Pick:
(C) Sergio Aguero: The Kun nicked the Captaincy Hype essential tag after beating Sanchez in a poll on our Twitter. Guests in the past have been very good with Aguero as captain, so I'll folow suit.
(VC) Charlie Austin: The Saints forward has to look forward to European football this Thursday, but his form in the league is paramount. Looking as deadly, if not more so, than when he was a sensation at QPR.

International break usually sees player picking up knocks and niggles. You may be forced into a -4. Only do this for attacking players. Almost never take a hit for a defender, as it will take them 2+ Gameweeks to make up any viable returns.
